NORDIC TRADE MISSION
TO

MEXICO CITY

During four days in late September 2023, a twelve-person delegation from the Nordics joined us in Mexico City for an introduction to the growing and exciting Mexican market and all its possibilities, both locally and as a stepping stone into LATAM.

On the first day, we kicked off with a keynote presentation on the market and why it's one of the top streaming markets in the world, as well as one of the most loyal fan bases for artists. We also dived into panels around PR and Live Booking in Mexico by leading professionals in the market, who ran through options, customs, and tips for market entry in these segments. Later, we finished with a lively session of speed meetings with around 20 professionals from various aspects like sync, DSP, festivals, booking, management, and publishing.

The next three days were focused on company visits to learn and connect with some of the leading businesses in the city. On the first day, we visited Ibero, a staple in culture and radio, had a round table with Seitrack on management and collaborations, and finished with the powerhouse booking and festival company OCESA. On Day three, we were immersed in a groundbreaking venue, media, and soon-to-be vinyl production company, a gem for both indie and developing acts when we visited the old church, now turned venue, Indie Rocks. While later in the afternoon, we were warmly welcomed by the Swedish Ambassador to his lovely residence, for networking in his beautiful garden as well as a stripped-down show by Danish/Chilean reggaeton artist IVANSITO.

We closed our Mexican experience with a full day on Thursday when we started at Mercadorama, a merch store, creative studio, and designer studio that emphasized the importance of local merchants and creative marketing, both in promotion and in response to counterfeit production. We then followed by visiting two key venues in the city, Foro Puebla with a 1000-capacity and Auditorio BB with a 3000-capacity, to further understand the live culture in Mexico and the opportunities that are open for our Nordic artists. We then closed our trip with Managers Anonimos, an all-around company focusing on management, publishing, and label work, who ran us through how they work internally and with their artists.

We will be back, Mexico, and thanks to Malfi and Co. for helping us on the ground.
